Every bag is weighed and sorted by hand in Bad Oldesloe. Each piece goes to the best use it still has, always in the same order, and the app shows you where yours went.
Reuse comes first, because nothing new has to be made. Recycling comes next. Energy recovery is only for what nothing else can save.
Pieces that can be worn again are sold as second-hand clothing.
It's the best outcome, because the water and energy that went into making them keep working.
A broken zip, a missing button or a small tear sends a piece to a partner workshop.
It comes back repaired, or remade into something new, like a bag or a patchwork jacket.
Worn-out pieces of suitable material are shredded and spun into new yarn.
That yarn goes into new clothes, closing the loop. You can spend Loops on products made with it.
Fibre that can't become clothing again becomes insulation, cleaning cloths or filling.
It replaces new material in products that last for years.
Wet or mouldy items can't be sorted safely, so they're used to make energy.
That's why we ask for clean, dry clothes: it keeps this tier as small as possible.
Pick something from your wardrobe and see where it could go next.
Denim is tough. Jeans that arrive whole usually still fit someone.
Tied together in pairs, shoes can be worn again. A single shoe can't.
It was there for everything. Now it can be there for someone else.
Worn twice, photographed once. It still has Saturdays ahead.
Faded, stretched and a little see-through. Still useful.
